I would love to have a great turnout at the June 21st Concert at the Crescent in Greenwood Village. Please let me know whether you will be attending or not. Affiliates are organizing this event and it would great to see as many of you as possible to show our support and have some fun with our Realtor members. Some affiliates have let me know if they are able to bring something to share like chips and dips or mini sandwiches. If you would like to bring something, please email me at cherylt@americantitleservices.com so we do not have any duplicates. Also, we would like some desserts. I have asked everyone to bring their own beverage of choice like wine, beer, mojito or soft drink.

We are meeting under the flag poles. There is a separate area designated for chairs, but I want to be able to have blankets down for better viewing. Please let me know as soon as possible. For more details:

The only feedback I have been getting to the blog are spam comments, which I reject and mark as spam. So, I would love to get some real feedback from our members. :-)

First go to the bottom of the blog page and click on the orange rss logo

Then on the next page on the right panel at the bottom is a “Subscribe in Mail” button, click on that and it should set up the feed to your email. It will come into an rss feed section of your email, so you will only need to check it when a post pops in there.

—– AAR was notified this morning of an incident at an open house over the weekend.  A female REALTOR® was hosting an open house in Tuscany on Saturday when a very tall, heavy set, well groomed male with a foreign accent and large scar on the right side of his forehead entered the home.  According to the REALTOR®, he started making derogatory comments to her, became very aggressive and approached her with some unusual mannerisms.  Fortunately, some other guests arrived and he left immediately.
AAR encourages you to follow the tips below to maintain your safety at open houses.

10 Tips for Holding a Safe Open House

Open houses can be a great sales tool-but hosting one also exposes you to numerous unfamiliar people for the first time. Take these steps to stay safe:

1. If possible, always try to have at least one other person working with you at the open house.

2. Check your cell phone’s strength and signal prior to the open house. Have emergency numbers programmed on speed dial.

3. Upon entering a house for the first time, check all rooms and determine several “escape” routes. Make sure all deadbolt locks are unlocked to facilitate a faster escape.

4. Make sure that if you were to escape by the back door, you could escape from the backyard. Frequently, high fences surround yards that contain swimming pools or hot tubs.

5. Have all open house visitors sign in. Ask for full name, address, phone number and e-mail.

6. When showing the house, always walk behind the prospect. Direct them; don’t lead them. Say, for example, “The kitchen is on your left,” and gesture for them to go ahead of you.

7. Avoid attics, basements, and getting trapped in small rooms.

8. Notify someone in your office, your answering service, a friend or a relative that you will be calling in every hour on the hour. And if you don’t call, they are to call you.

9. Inform a neighbor that you will be showing the house and ask if he or she would keep an eye and ear open for anything out of the ordinary.

10. Don’t assume that everyone has left the premises at the end of an open house. Check all of the rooms and the backyard prior to locking the doors. Be prepared to defend yourself, if necessary.
